I had a dream I was sleeping in bed in a house. I woke up to something floating in the air towards the ceiling. It was like a stick with a string hanging down. The string almost was touching me on the bed. I grabbed the string and pulled the stick down. On the end of the stick, was a bug.  The bug starting flapping, and making a lot of noise.  I carried the stick into the kitchen.  A family member was there, but they didn’t seem to be bothered by this.

The bug fell off the stick on to the floor and I started looking for some kind of container to put it in.  I found a container then managed to get the bug / critter / lizard or whatever it was, into the container.  The dream stopped.  

Biblical Interpretation:

Locusts:  These are mentioned numerous times, most famously as one of the Plagues of Egypt (Exodus 10). They also appear in prophecies, often symbolizing destruction or large armies (Joel 1-2, Revelation 9). Specific types were also permitted as food under Old Testament law (Leviticus 11:22).

Flies: Also one of the Plagues of Egypt (Exodus 8)

Moths: Used symbolically to represent destructiveness, decay, and the impermanence of earthly treasures (Job 13:28, Isaiah 50:9, Matthew 6:19-20).

General Terms: The Bible often uses terms like “creeping things” or “swarming things” (Hebrew: sherets, remes) which encompass insects as well as other small animals like reptiles. Leviticus 11, for instance, discusses clean and unclean “swarming things.”

Interpretation:

Something is bugging me, some kind of problem-challenge-issue of life. I am carrying around burdens, problems, and challenges around instead of casting my burdens on God. I need to cast what is bugging me on the Lord as 1 Peter 5:7 states “Cast your cares on the Lord because He cares for you.”

Sometimes Jesus calms the storms in our lives, but sometimes Jesus needs to calm the storm raging in us.
